C’est
un album superbe. [...] je trouve la qualite du son particulierement
bien lèchée. Les voix, mais aussi la guitare et le piano. Tu t’es
entouré de bons musiciens et techniciens, ca s’entend. [...] il y a
beaucoup de morceaux qui me bottent déjà énormement, particulierement
ceux où la guitare figure en avant plan : « They burn the mountain », «
The train is leaving Kokura » et « Beppu Nights » . Le piano
(électrique ?) est superbe aussi : l’intro de « Chase around » sonne
comme du Steely Dan de la grande époque. Et celle de « Legs &
liquor », on dirait du ragtime des années 20. Un morceau que j’aime
toujours autant c’est « I know time is passing by… », que je connais
depuis longtemps. Mais ta nouvelle version, très intime, est la
meilleure de toutes. Sur l’ensemble, on decouvre de très belles
trouvailles en matière de melodies, de riffs, d’arrangements, de
rythme, etc. Même la couverture me botte : elle fait très Al Stewart
période « Orange » avec le manteau afhgan !

Between
folk, jazz and funk, this album conveys the image of a gracefully
ageing rock star singing in a casino at the autumn of his life. My
favorite cuts are the duets with the girls, they both complement your
dark voice with a perfect touch of brightness.Warm and sexy! I have to
emphasize on the musicianship of the pianist on the live side, and the
lead guitarists on "Continental Breakfast". The Asian songs make the
record more mysterious and seductive. Your best release, with live
version far superior to their studio equivalent.
